Network Location Awareness service won't start

I am unable to connect to any networks as my computer says a service has not started, I see that my "network location awareness" service will not start. When I try start it it gives me a service-specific error code -1073741502. I am running windows vista 32 bit. This service was working previously, but suddenly it was not working. I have tried restarting, but to no avail. This has been a problem for almost 2 months. Please help
