Hi Mariposa123,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community site. I would suggest you to follow the below methods to check if the issue can be resolved.

Method 1: The issue may be caused also by your security program such an anti-virus or a Windows Firewall /Defender which might have conflicting settings as to not to perform certain tasks. I suggest that you temporary disable / uninstall the anti-virus and firewall and check the result again. You would need to turn on / reinstall the security programs again which you had disabled.

If the issue is resolved, I would suggest you to reset the security programs to default and check again or

Configure your firewall to let the Verclsid.exe program run follow this Microsoft KB Article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165. If the issue persists, follow Method 2

Method 2: Enable DEP

A) If you are trying to upload Microsoft Office Applications, I would suggest you to enable DEP for Office applications and check if the issue persists.

Run the Microsoft Fix it from the link below:

How do I enable or disable DEP for Office applications?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971766.

B) If you are trying to upload files which are other than office applications, follow the steps below:

* Log in as administrator

* Open the Start menu and right-click “Computer”

* Choose “Properties” from the context menu.

* Choose “Advanced system settings” from under “Tasks” in the left pane.

* Approve the User Account Control query (You will have to be an administrator to do it).

* Click the button “Settings” in the Performance section.

* Click the tab “Data Execution Prevention”

* choose either “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:” or “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only to select the OptIn policy”

* If you choose “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:”, click Add to add the programs that you do not want to use the DEP feature.

* Click OK twice

* Restart the computer for the changes to take effect

* If the issue persists try the next method.

C) You need to perform a Clean Boot by following the steps mentioned in the following KB article to narrow down the exact source and isolate it. A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts. This article describes how to troubleshoot problems in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 by performing a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

IMPORTANT: Also, see the section on how return your computer to a Normal startup mode by following the steps under “Reset the computer to start as usual”.

Let me know if that works. Good luck!

Hope this information is helpful.

Thanks and Regards,

Vijay KKS
