Question

Q: Cannot share printer or files from XP professional desktop. This thread is locked from future replies

I can see all the other PCs on our home network from the XP professional desktop, however if I am on any other machine I can not see the XP professional PC.  This is causing an issue as I have a printer shared on the machine and no other machines can add it.  I originally had the printer on another XP home PC but changed it to the XP professional.

Hi,

I would suggest you to enable the file sharing on the system and check whether your XP system can be seen on the other system.

I would suggest you to update the Network adapter on all the other systems and check whether you are able to see the Windows XP Professional on the system. Check the article mentioned below.

This problem was driving me potty for weeks after I added a new (secondhand) XP Pro PC to my network.

Finally found my solution on Daniweb

Run regedit.

Navigate to My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Find name restrictanonymous and if DWORD value is 1, modify it to 0.

As I said worked for me, but your mileage may vary.
