Q: Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.Error 1297 This thread is locked from future replies

Previously my HP Pavillion dv9420us Ntebook with Vista, worked very well with my HP Officejet J4680 All-in-One printer .  Even  though I hadn't used the print feature for some time I was very surprised to get the following message:  Printer Spooler stopped.  After trying to reinstall the printer and trouble shooting the issue I received another error:

Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.

Error 1297. a privilege that the service requires to function properly does

Hi,

Step 1: Check for the dependencies of Print Spooler service and verify whether they’re running.

a.     Click Start and type services.msc in the Start search box and hit Enter.

b.     Locate Print Spooler.

c.     Right-click and select Properties.

d.     Click the Dependencies tab.

e.     Look for the “Dependencies” under “Print Spooler” and make sure all the dependency services are running and set to “Manual” or “Automatic”.

f.      Then try starting the print spooler service.

Step 2: “Printer problems in Windows”: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/printer-problems-in-windows

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
