Windows 64 Bit Vista and Western Digital Drives

I have two external WD drives. One being the WD2500, and the other being the WD2500B007.
I just purchased this new HP machine with Windows Vista 64 bit. The drives will show up, but, when they do, they don't show any of the data I have on them. All they say is that they are both 6gb. Which, is the amount of space they show I have left on both drives. It's really weird. I have run virus checks, and no virus's are found. Is there a newer driver for these drives? BTW, I have an older WD firewire external drive, and it works just fine.
Please let me know if there is something I am missing! I use both drives for the same backup. I do have a 500gb portable drive that I have with all my data on it, so, if I have to reformat both 250GB's, I can. But, I didn't want to reformat the drives if they only will recognize 6gb each.
Western Digital tech support tells me that they won't support the drives for 64 bit Vista.  Can anyone shed some light and help out?

Thanks!
Todd.

Answer
you can also try to update your drive controller drives from your manufacturers website.. but that are for your internal drives.. most of them are included with chipset drivers..

you can try Running the WD tool on their website.. to scan your drive for errors without loosing data. also try plugging your drives with a USB attachment.
