Vista print spooler problem

Please help !!  I purchased a new canon printer because I couldn't get my lexmark to work with my new computer.  The old computer had XP and new one has Vista.  I have tried everything.  The print spooler stays on automatic, but I continue to get the message that the print spooler isn't running.  Are there any free upgrades from microsoft to fix this problem?

Check chan vu's message here - the very top one.

fixed spooler subsystem app stopped working

If the above did not help :

Use this method to clear the spooler then uninstall and reinstall your printer (check with the maker for
the latest driver).

Check the Mr Fixits here and if you have to use the other methods go back and try them again afterwards.

you can copy and paste each line in except the ones in brackets and hit enter after each.
