printing "error" with both HP wireless, using USB, and new Brother printer with USB

Last week I began getting error messages and was unable to print using our wireless HP printer.  Tried using USB cable - still error.  I purchased and installed a Brother printer today, got test page printed, but still have "error" and not  printing. I used system restore thinking this may help but it did not. Also reinstalled the drivers.

Hi Blooming Rose,

  • What is the exact error message you receive when you try to print?
  • Did you make any changes to the computer before this issue started?

However, you may follow the steps below and check if it helps you fix the printer issue on your computer.

Step 1

Make sure print spooler service and the dependency service for print spooler services is set to automatic and started.

To start print spooler services and set it to automatic, follow the steps below.

a. Right click on Computer and select Manage.

b. In the console that opens, pull down the Services menu and applications.

c. Click on Services.

d. Double-click on the Print Spooling key.

e. In the "General" tab, go to Startup Type.

f.  Set the value to Automatic.

g. Click on Start button.

h. Click Apply and restart the computer.

After you restart the computer verify if you can print.

Step 2

If the above step fails you may access the link below and run the “fix it’ tool and check if it helps you fix the printing issue on your computer.

Hope it helps. Let us know the result.
