My desktop will not recognize my tv as an external monitor through my s video cord.

I have been researching this problem on line for some time and all the answers i have found have not worked. I have restarted my computer to try to get it to recognize. Gone through the control panel but there is no option for even activating a second monitor and all other suggestions I have come across have so far not worked to get my computer to recognize my tv. I know my tv is compatible and can be used as an external monitor because I have used it in the past with my laptop and my old desktop. I am running on windows vista. Please help!

Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers.

You may have to uninstall and re-install the updated display drivers .

Install the latest display drivers from the manufacturer’s website and make sure that you completely uninstall the old drivers and software.

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

 1.  Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.‌ If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.  In Device Manager, locate the device you want to update, and then double-click the device name.

3.  Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver and follow the instructions
