I have directX 11 on a full directx 11 ATI card

I heard some rumors that vista supports windows 7 driver model 1.1

MS explained it a bit in their blog:

You get WDDM1.1 in Vista, with the Windows Vista Platform Update but GDI/GDI+ is still software rendering.
