Microsoft Flight Simulator X Installation Keeps Getting Stuck On 'Removing Applications'

Hi, I'll describe exactly what problem is occuring.

Program: Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe Edition

System Specs: Dell Optiplex 745

                     Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHZ

                     VTX3D Radeon HD 7750 1GB Edition

                      4GB RAM

                     Windows Vista 32 Bit

Background Info: This is my second time installing FSX ever and I unistalled for a fresh install after a build up of unwanted addons.

Problem: I insert FSX install disc 1 and autoplay come up and i click on run now. the installer now runs and begins setting up. Once the installer is ready on options menu comes up where I can choose install location etc... After choosing my install location etc... the game begins to install. There is one large windows which is black with no image and one smaller windows that is running through the setup. Once it gets to 'Removing Applications' it seems to get stuck. The progress shows 7 blue bars. No matter how long I leave the installer running nothing happens and it continues to say 'Removing Applications' The installer isn't 'not responding' according to task manager.

If you require any futher info please let me know.

Many thanks,

Adam

Having the exact same problem. Don't know how to fix it :(

I'm running Windows 8 64 bit with plenty of power to spare.

Edit : waited about 10 minutes and the installation continued. I guess you just have to be patient with it.

As I was logging in to reply to this post (I thought I was having the exact same problem), the stuckness became unstuck. I did wait quite awhile before growing impatient (over ten minutes).

Program: MFSX Gold

System: iMac late 2013

Windows 7 Deluxe

It is whipping through the install as I type. As bad as this may come off, perhaps a little more wait time could trigger the process into gear.

Good luck,

Matt

I have same problem, today I was unable to install my Microsoft Flight Simulator X Standard Edition. The installation was stuck on "Removing Aapplications" but after more than 10 minutes it continue installing the game, so I think there need to wait some little bit time, and all would be good.

I've just installed FSX and I had the same problem. I was installing from my hdd so I could check what was going on via resource monitor. For the whole time my source HDD had 100% of activity time while system process was reading D1Fea~X.cab and D2Fea~X.cab files. I assume the installer was checking or decompressing those files. After 15-20 minutes installation completed without problems. I think that "Removing Applications" step is completed at "hang" stage, but the installer doesn't switch the label.

Hi Adam!

I had this problem, it was stuck at "Removing Applications" because..

1. It's not that it's frozen or anything, it's just removing the applications.

2. It'll take some time, 2-10 Mins or more!

Just have to be patient, not impatient!

Thanks,

NEONGT1

Yep, just ran into this issue too. I was able to install it in the past on this computer, but now it gets hung on Removing Applications and at 5 bars and it's been setting there for about 15 minutes.

My laptop has Windows 7 Ultimate, Intel HD Graphics 3000, 8 GB RAM and Intel Core i7 2630QM @ 2.0 GHz and yes it's playable on it.

EDIT: I waited about 20 minutes and it finally got to installing. No worry, but I don't remember it getting hung there
