Error - Rome: Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall DirectX.

Original title: DirectX problems running Vista over Bootcamp.

i have browsed the web for the last little while and cannot find any solutions.

I am trying to run Rome Total War on Vista, over bootcamp on my 27" iMac. however everytime i start up the game is enables an error message saying "Rome:Total War failed to find DirectX 9, which is required for the game to run. Please reinstall DirectX"

I have browsed the net and have used a few DirectX (9) downloads on multiple trusted websites, however the error message still appears every time i try and initiate the game.

i have "Run" "dxdiag" and on the "System" tab is says that i have DirectX 11, under "System Information".

i don't know where to go from here, any help would be greatly appreciated
