Why won't my computer allow me to rename a new folder?

I have windows vista and it is brand spankin new to me and for some reason, the computer won't let me rename a newly created folder, or any folder for that matter. I have tried it in almost every possible window, even the desk top but it still won't let me do it?! WHY WHY WHY????

HiJustin08,

·         What happens when you try to rename the folder?

·         Were you able to rename the folders earlier?

As of now let’s boot into safemode and check if you are able to rename the folders. Safe mode will start Windows Vista with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed, follow the steps to boot the computer in safe mode:

i. Restart the computer.

ii. Start tapping F8 key.

iii. You will get advanced boot option window.

iv. Select the option “Safe mode”.

Start your computer in safe mode

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.
