error 1310

I am getting an error 1310 when trying to install java and turbo tax.  I have tried right-clicking and choosing Run as Administrator and I still get the same error message.  I have also tried sharing the directories with the Administrator and User accounts and still does not work.  I don't know what else to try!  Please help.

Hi,

Interesting stuff. Basically, the 1310 error generally occurs when installing Office 2000. See KB:

 http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296175

As you are having problems with Java/turbo tax with this issue, it makes me curious as to whether you have some legacy Microsoft (likely Office) programs installed that might be interfering with the install. What to do ? Go ahead and install and run the msicuu2 program at this link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

This is a Microsoft uninstaller that is useful for removing programs that may not be reached through the standard uninstall method. Go ahead and remove any legacy Microsoft products that you are no longer using- look especially for Office 2000 products.

ALSO:

Just generally, installer errors can occur and commonly do if you have a virus scanner or firewall enabled during the install. To be on the safe side, disable both firewall/virus scan software also. When this is disabled and any potential interfering programs are uninstalled.. go ahead and give it a try again. Should work ok. Hope this helps,
