C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is not accessible. Access is denied

recovering from a presumed virus I hve no desktop.  no icons.  I can get to desktop in explorer, but when saving or opening some applications, I get the above error like the desktop is corrupted.  I also have the symptom of not being able to open any Office 2007 file without the "Your AutoCorrect file, (Korean characters) MSo1033.acl, could not be saved" error.

Answer

The virus might have corrupted your profile. Try creating a new User Account.

Creating new user account.
1. Click the Start Button, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Classic View in left pane.
3. Double-click User Accounts.
4. Click Manage another user account.
5. Click Create a new account, and type the name.
6. Choose account type as Computer administrator.
7. Click Create Account.
8. Log off and log on using the new account

If the problem is gone you can copy files to the new user profile.

You can also try in Safe mode
Start your computer in Safe Mode

If the above failed try System Restore:
Open System Restore by clicking the Start button -> click All Programs -> click Accessories -> click System Tools -> and then click System Restore.‍  If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
