Windows 10 running in VirtualBox

Hi All,

I spent most of the last day or so , trying to get Virtualbox to run Windows 10

I have encountered many of the errors that have been posted on the Forum at some point.

The biggest issue and route cause of the problem would appear to be a corrupt download, although it downloaded successfully and appeared to be OK, it could not have been.

It was interrupted once - although restarted and completed to the same size.

I have since downloaded it twice more and re-installed with success.

For all interested parties, these are the parameters I have used in Virtualbox to get a functioning Windows 10.

Also as a bonus, I have found that Avira Ant-virus runs successfully on windows 10.

Virtualbox Parameters

General - O/S Winows 8.1 (64-bit)

System - Memory 2048MB

               Acceleration (VT-x/AMD-V/Nested Paging)

Display - Video memory 128MB

Storage - SATA Port 0 w10.vdi (normal, 25GB)

              - IDE is the ISO image

Audio - default

Network (my Wi-Fi adapter)

For your Windows 8/8.1 install, are you running Pro?

If yes, stop using Virtual Box. Embrace Hyper-V (it works well, and it is also free)

That being said, I think your issue might be the 128 MB video memory configuration. I would bump that up to 512 MB if you can and try again.

If you want to check your install, grab the hash from the download page and get a hash comparison app (this one works for md5, not sure about how MS has their hash setup http://securityxploded.com/hashcompare.php )
