unable to install windows 10 ASUS U43F - 0xC1900101- 0x20017

Hi

I have an ASUS U43F currently running Windows 8, Upgraded from Windows 7. I am not able to upgrade to Windows 10 technical preview. Its the same issue I still face when I try to upgrade to Windows 8.1

I was really excited to install the new Operating system and help by providing feedback.

However its very unfortunate that i am not able to upgrade, any help is appreciated.

I have the same issue.  I am installing on a Window 7 machine.  I was able to complete the initial installation process.  The machine restarted on its own and showed the Windows 10 load screen on start-up.  Once the load screen disappeared I saw the preview build number on the bottom right corner and I could move my mouse (other than that the screen was black).  I let it sit for an hour and nothing else happened.  Ctrl-Alt-Del did not do anything.  I restarted the machine and it booted back into Windows 7.  A window appeared stating "We couldn't install Windows Technical Preview.  We've set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows Technical Preview.  0xC190010 - 0x20017".

For my instance of this issue I found out that the original OS (Windows 7 in this case) was receiving updates as the Windows 10 Technical Preview was installing.  This seemed to have caused some sort of confusion once the machine restarted.  When the machine reverted back to the original OS it also completed the installation of the updates it had downloaded.  After the error (and my previous post) I attempted the install again and encountered no issue.

I have had this issue since the Windows 8.1 days. I have a computer Asus U43F that is running Windows 8 just fine.

I can't update to 8.1 because of the

0xC1900101- 0x20017 error

I also can't install Windows 10 because it throws a BSOD with DRIVER VIOLATION

Similar experience here, but not exactly the same error:

0xc1900101 - 0x2000D

I'm not completely sure about what went wrong during the installation: I found the machine off, and when I put it on Setup started restoring Windows 8.1.

I am trying to install on a Samsung tablet (from Build conference)

It runs through validation and getting ready and then into loading with restarts planned,

but then just stops and leaves no record behind.

Where to I look for error messages or find out what failed?

Thanks.

I have the exact same error message. Running Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1.  It seems to be going through the complete install but after I click "restart" it does it's setting up Windows thing before it actually shuts down. I think this is the point where it hits a snag and reverts to Windows 7 because after I restart it has the Windows 7 splash screen as it is booting. This particular computer dual boots to Linux, and Linux is the default unless I select Windows from the boot loader screen. Could that be the issue?

I have the exact same machine, I am also on Windows 8, and you are right I cannot upgrade to Windows 8.1 either.

Microsoft really needs to fix this, upgrading to Windows 8 was a breeze. However 8.1 is a whole another ball game.

The failure is pretty obvious in my case, its a splash screen.

From what i See that should not be the issue, the seems to have more to do with some kind of incompatible drivers, did you ever try to move to Windows 8.1.
