couldn't update to windows technical preview

sorry we couldn't complete the update to WIndows Technical Preview.  We've restored your previous version of Windows to this PC.

For Enterprise rolled back to 9868, briefly saw a higher version but don't recall what it was.

You are running a preview build the general public does not have access to. The only build we can use right now is build 9860. You are running build 9868 which I assume you have access to because you are a Microsoft employee.

You can try the following to see if you can upgrade to whatever higher build you have access to:

Make sure you install the latest updates for Windows 10 build 9868 first.

Make sure you have full administrative privileges

If you are connected to a domain, switch to a local account

Disable your Antivirus utility before attempting the upgrade

Do a clean boot and try again

Close all open programs and make sure that PC Settings is the active window while the download completes, I notice if you switch to something else, the download will time out and fail

If you are updating over Wi-Fi, try switching to a Wired Connection.

Make sure Windows 10 is activated.

If you have any external devices attached to the machine, disconnect them (example, USB keys, external hard disc, printers, non-essential devices).

No, I'm having the same problem with 9860 and I'm not a Microsoft employee.
