Do i need to install the Browser Choice update?

I have a few questions ,  I am a bit new to this so please bear with me.
I have windows update set to automatic, after installing the latest batch of updates
the update window says that there is an important update avaliable Microsoft Browser Choice Screen Update for EEA Users of Windows Vista  (KB976002).
Now Im quite happy with IE8 (and google chrome as a back up) . Do I need this update? (it says it can not be uninstalled).
I have hidden it for the moment  so I can install it at a later date if needed (I presume the update will be there for the  foreseeable future, will it?).

Also I have read that the update is being released everywhere (Europe)  on the 1st of March, will I recieve the update again? and if so because I have automatic updates could this be installed automatically (I understand that I have it set to install important updates automatically but this update did not install automatically is that because it is opt in? or because once installed you can not delete it?)

As I said earlier I happy with what I am using so if this update offers no other benefits I dont want it (at the moment).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey nicmcc,

You can use the Browser Choice update to select and install the web browser you want to use on your computer.
This application creates a shortcut on your desktop. This shortcut lets you visit a Web page in which you can select which Web browser you want to install. Additionally, the first time that you log on to the computer after you install the application, Windows Internet Explorer starts automatically and displays the Browser Choice Web page.

See the features at:

What is the Browser Choice update?

A Browser Choice application is available in the European Economic Area

After going through the articles above, if you decide to get the updates, you may get it via Windows Updates. As correctly put by you, the update cannot be removed via Programs and Features.

If you’ve turned on Windows Automatic Updates, Windows install important updates as they become available.
