ExamSoft corruption

My school required Examsoft, which basically takes control of your computer to take exams so you can't cheat. Unfortunately, it stopped working and I had to hard reboot while it was loading an exam. Afterward there were several function that didn't work and the Examsoft logo was stuck on my background. After unsuccessfully googling a fix, my computer was unable to use restore points, so I did a full computer reset. If anyone has experience with this let me know how to fix without resetting. But my question is if I can somehow run this in a partition, as a separate user, or anything so that if it happens again, the damage can be isolated so I can use my computer normally. HP laptop with Windows 10.

Hi,

Programs that stopped or closed unexpectedly may be caused by your local security program or there’s a new update needed. Antivirus and firewall can interfere with a program’s function. Let’s start troubleshooting ExamSoft by following these steps:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Look for ExamSoft, then right-click to Repair.
  3. If there’s no repair option, uninstall ExamSoft then disable your antivirus before reinstalling it back.
  4. Test the program after installation before enabling your antivirus.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

I already did a full reset of my computer, so Examsoft works fine now. But prior to that I already tried repairing it and uninstalling/reinstalling without success. I can try stopping antivirus software before running it in the future, but right now I'm really wondering if there's a way to isolate it so it won't corrupt my personal use in the future. Is there a way to partition and run part of my computer solely for this software? Almost like having two computers in one.

Creating a partition to isolate ExamSoft is a great idea. Check this link for the instructions on how to create and format a hard disk partition. Note that formatting a volume of your hard disk will destroy any data on the partition created. Be sure to back up any data you want to save before you begin.

As an alternative on isolating your concern, you can create a new administrator account solely for ExamSoft to freely switch from the main user account to your dedicated account when you need to use it.
