Installing Vista SP2 returns Error 0x80070005

Installing Vista SP2   OR
Installing IE8            OR
Doing Windows Updates
returns Error 80070005 "Access Denied"
Soooo running accesschk gets accesschk.txt results of
   HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Retry Agent
   HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Sqm
   HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Sqm\VistaSP1-KB936330~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.0.0.18000
   HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\Sqm\VistaSP1-KB936330~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.0.0.18000\InstallCounter

Please help .... no updates in a long time have worked ... thanks ... Darryl
