when i try to install an update from the windows updates section, this particular update is Broadcom-Network-Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN.  This update would not install and the error code is 800F020b. Can someone give me a solution to rectify this error?

I located your original post…

It appears that you are having difficulty with Windows Update, and an option device driver update. The error code 0x800F020b indicates that the “device instance does not exist”. This suggests that this optional device driver update does not necessarily apply to your system – as I assume your wireless internet is fully functional.

I would recommend that in this particular instance, given the error code, that you hide this update. Should you need to update this particular device driver in the future you can visit your computer manufactures website for drivers specific to your system. Or you can visit this device manufactures website as they as well have drivers available for download.

How to hide an update in Windows Update…

1.     Click Start, click All Programs, and click Windows Update.

2.     Click View available updates which is located under the Install updates button.

3.     Locate the update you want to hide, right-click that update, and select Hide update.

4.     Go back to the main Windows Update page, and select Check for updates.

5.     The update in question should no longer be displayed.
