No signal found by monitor for HDMI or DVI. Monitor finds VGA signal just fine.

Here is the problem. I used to get a signal from HDMI cable or the DVi cable on my old monitor.  Then the signal was there sometimes and then it wasn't.  Now my new monitor does not find a signal for either HDMI or DVI.  It does find the signal for the VGA and that works.  Any ideas???  Myself and quite a few others dont have any idea on how to fix this>

Hello, billiardsnut

Are you using an adapter for DVI or HDMI?

Assuming you are using a straight DVI->DVI or HDMI->HDMI cable, try shutting down the computer and turning off the monitor, connect the DV or HDMI cable, then turn both back on.

Some video cards will not dynamically change on its own, doing the above steps will usually set the appropriate output.

Additionally, since you mention on your old monitor it would be intermittent, it could possibly be the digital (DVI/HDMI) port on your video card is failing.

If you can't fix it with duct tape, you haven't used enough.
