FSX Fatal Error Occured! Help!

Hello,

Whenever I start up FSX, about 30/40 seconds into startup of FSX. It show's Fatal Error occurred, FSX is restarting.

This has never happened before, it is the first time in 3 years in use of FSX. I have many third-party addons for this game, therefore I don't really want to uninstall it. It will take too much time to Back-up all the addons, since there're about more that 50gigs worth of addons...

I have tried cleaning the FSX Directories Dlls manually, but to no avail.

Any recommendations ??

Please Help!! I love this game..My only game I have on PC...

I have invested a lot of money in these addons..

Everything was working fine, until this...

I have a few questions for you.

What is your current OS? (also is your OS 32 or 64 bit?)

Have any in-game settings been changed recently? Or perhaps there have been recently installed windows updates? Or recently installed third party add-ons?

The reason I ask is because things don't often suddenly stop working without something changing first.

My current OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit

No, I have not changed an settings and i'm not sure about windows updates, as I never keep a track on it. It automatically updates, whenever there are updates.

Yes, I had the PMDG MD-11 installed. The first time I started FSX up after installing the PMDG software, it worked and even the second time. But the third time I tried starting up FSX the Fatal error showed up...

One thing you could try is renaming the fsx.cfg to something else file so that when you run FSX, it will create a new one with all the default configuration settings. And if the fatal error is still happening, you can just delete the newly created fsx.cfg and change the name back on the first one.

fsx.cfg should be located here:

C:\Users\your account\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

You'll need to make sure you have the option set to view hidden files and folders.

Let me know if this works.

Could you provide more information on the error? The exact error message or error code. And if you're up for it, you can go to the Event Logs tool in the control panel and find further information about this error and post it here. In Event Logs, I believe once you've selected the correct error, you can then click something like "Event Properties" (or something similar) on the right side of the page. This should pop up a window that has a "Copy" button at the bottom left and you could then paste it into your post.

If you remove FSUIPC.DLL from the Modules folder, does everything run fine?

Now, when I open fsx, it opens without problems, but when I click on free-flight, it stops responding, and the fatal error occurs.

Sorry I am not too familiar with FSX problems and of the other people who had this same error, I couldn't find one that was resolved without a re-install. I doubt the problem has anything to do with a Windows update. It seems more likely that a part of a file has become corrupted and that would be very tricky to track down exactly what's going wrong. Somebody with more experience with FSX might be able to help you out, but I simply can't. Good luck to you, though.
