Age of Empires 3 product key

The product key that came with my game, which i've used before on an older PC keeps saying that it doesn't work on this PC.

Installation of software would only prompt for an invalid product key if you are entering the product key incorrectly or if the installer and product keys don't match. Are you sure that you are typing the product key correctly and are you using the correct disc for the game?

Ive checked it many times and have been entering it properly, i have also used the same disks for install as in the past as they are the only disks I own

Well, to be honest, those are the only reasons why it would give you an invalid product key error. How about the product key? Are you sure that it is really the product key for Age of Empire 3?

Yes, as it is a sticker attached onto the inside of the CD box.
