Can I upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 on a Acer Aspire Iconia W500 tablet?

I was considering getting an Acer Aspire Iconia W500:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-AMD-C50-Processor-Wireless-Bluetooth/dp/B004SHEQ06/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1348389936&sr=1-1

However I do not wish to use Windows 7 on it (I have my desktop for that). I want to upgrade it to Windows 8 so that when SmartGlass is released I have an awesome tablet for use with my Xbox. Also, I hate android so I am not looking for an android tablet.

I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade on a tablet, or if it is version locked.

Thanks, Peter.

Answer

Yes, you can update a tablet to Windows 8 Release Preview. One of the test tablets was a Acer Iconia.

See the following blog from Building Windows 8:
