I was considering getting an Acer Aspire Iconia W500:

However I do not wish to use Windows 7 on it (I have my desktop for that). I want to upgrade it to Windows 8 so that when SmartGlass is released I have an awesome tablet for use with my Xbox. Also, I hate android so I am not looking for an android tablet.
I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade on a tablet, or if it is version locked.

Yes, you can update a tablet to Windows 8 Release Preview. One of the test tablets was a Acer Iconia.
