Error Code 800f0922 for KB2871690 Windows 8 update

Hi,

I´ve struggled quite a while with the problem "failure configuring windows updates reverting Changes". I tried virtually everything found in forums but even a Win 8 reset didn´t help! Finally I have managed to install all of them but one manually, one by one... still KB2871690 is not possible to install. I receive the red shield after the installation. Does anyone have a clue?

I have tried the following:

Windows 8 refresh

Windows 8 reset

sfc /scannow

dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

installing it in clean boot, both via windows update and from download center.

Windows update troubleshooter

etc...

I have managed to solve the problem of the KB2871690 update.  This was only after reinstalling my operating system!  I followed the instructions here to disable secure boot on my computer.

I ran the update and then went in and enabled it again.  Hope this helps you!

I would like to say thanks @BettyWoo.  I have spent a week of late nights with a brand new PC trying to get updates working with this blocker - it stops all other updates being applied, I had to install each one individually to narrow it down to this one, and find this thread.  I'd done all the all the same things the OP said and read all the suggestions from people with no real answer.

Switched off Secure Boot in the BIOS and the fix took immediately without needing a restart!

This was on an Acer Aspire XC-600 so it seems to be a problem specific to Secure Boot.  The fix is related to EUFI of which Secure Boot is a part.

It looks like Microsoft have shot themselves in the foot on this one as they require computers shipped with Windows 8 to have Secure Boot enabled. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unified_Extensible_Firmware_Interface#Secure_boot_2).

Thanks again - brilliant!
