Can't connect to Windows 8 Store

For the past couple of days, every time I try to access the Windows 8 Store my PC tells me that I am not connected to the internet, even though I am!! All of my other apps are working fine. I have tried using a wired and wireless connection and even reinstalled Windows but I am still getting the same problem. How can I get the store to work again??

Hi MattJones,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

From your issue description, I understand that you cannot connect to Windows store.

Let’s start with some questions.

1.       What exactly happens when you try to connect to Windows store?

2.       Do you receive any error message when you try to connect to Windows store?

3.       Are you using proxy connection for connecting to internet?

4.       What is the security software installed on the computer?

5.       Have you made any changes to the computer prior to this issue?

I want you try the following methods to resolve the issue.

Method 1: Make sure User Account Control (UAC) is enabled.

Press the Windows key and from the Start screen type "UAC" and on the right, select Settings.
Select Change User Account Control settings and verify here.

Method 2: Check the Date & Time Zone is correct:

Follow these steps to change the time.

a. Double Click on the current time on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

b. Then click Change date and time settings, then click the Change time zone button

c. Select your time zone and tick automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time and press OK

d. Then press Apply, and OK.

Method 3: Run network troubleshooter and check if you can connect to store.

Follow the steps to run the Network troubleshooter:

a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b. Type Troubleshooting and clickTroubleshooting under Settings.

c. Now type Network Troubleshooter in thesearch option.

d. Click on Network troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.

Method 4: If you are using a proxy connection, then try disabling proxy and then check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to disable proxy:

a. Open Internet Explorer

b. Click the Tools button, and then clickInternet Options

c. Click the Connections tab, and then clickLAN settings

d. Uncheck the Use Proxy server.

e. Click Apply and Ok to save changes.

Now check if you can access store.

Method 5: Reset Store cache.
Follow the steps and check.
a) Right click on Start Screen
b) Click on Run
c) Type in WSReset.exe
d) Hit Enter
e) Restart the computer and check.

Method 6: Run SFC scan
a) Right click on the bottom left corner of the screen and select "Command Prompt Admin"
b) Type the following command and press Enter: "sfc /scannow"

Method 7: I suggest you disable antivirus installed on the computer.

When you disable Antivirus:

Important Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

 Hope the above information helps.
