Windows Upgrade Offer - lost product key

Hi everyone,

So here's my dilemma - I have a Toshiba laptop, which came pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium when I purchased it in October 2012. At the time, Microsoft was running a promotion called the Windows Upgrade Offer (, where, if you had purchased an eligible PC/Laptop, you could purchase an upgrade to Windows 8 for just AU$14.99.

Later, Microsoft ran a promotion where you could receive a free media center upgrade which would allow you to install Windows Media Center.

Unfortunately, I had lost the original Windows 8 product key that I had received from the Windows 8 Upgrade offer - and my laptop was infected with a virus. I thought I'd just be best to re-install Windows 8 using the "Remove everything and re-install Windows" option in the Control Panel on Windows 8. This was successful in re-installing Windows, but I was asked to enter a product key. Due to the fact that I couldn't locate my product key, I used Belarc Adviser to find my product key just before I went ahead with the re-installation process. Little did I know, the product key that Belarc Adviser found was actually the Windows 8 with Media Center product key.

So, Windows will not let me activate, as the installer is "Windows 8 Pro", not "Windows 8 Pro with Media Center".

I have contacted Microsoft via Twitter, phone (tech support, billing/accounts, activations and Microsoft Store departments) and live chat, all who have no record of my purchase. I have still have the Windows Upgrade Offer promo ID and registration confirmation number which I received in an email from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, but these prove to be unhelpful to the support teams. Using the Windows Order Summary website ( also doesn't seem to show my order.

Is there anything I am able to do?
