Windows 8 OEM 64-bit to 32-bit

I have a rather frustrating problem, and I really hope someone in here will be able to help me.
My father recently purchased a laptop with windows 7 32-bit. He wanted to upgrade the laptop to windows 8, so he purchased a windows 8 software cd.
Although the person selling him the laptop was aware of the pc being 32-bit, he sold my father the 64-bit version... Now, being unable to change the product, because of the fact that we had to open it before finding out, and not being able to add the product key to an online setup download because it is an OEM-version, I've run out of ideas.

Is there any way to get the windows 8 64-bit OEM version converted to 32-bit without buying an entirely new copy?

I hope what I wrote makes sense. Please help!!!

Like i've said, upgrade doesn't work, that is why you get that message - the 32bit os cant run the 64bit installer. You need to boot from the disc and install from scratch. Most laptops from the last decade support 64bits. Just remember to backup any files and such before installing.

Sorry this didn't help.
