Hi All,

Hi Thanks for your help.

I have discovered my the DVD drive I have is on the blip so was going to attempt and install from USB drive.

however the windows 7 tool for creating an ISo doesnt seem to register my windows 8 iso i have created using a couple of different software tools to create it.

The message i get when using the windows 7 USB/DVD download tool is the following:

The selected file is not a valid ISO file. Please select a valid ISO file and try again.

Are there any suggestions as I'm wanting to do a clean install of windows 8 onto a new hard drive without upgrading what i currently have.

Hi James,

Thank you for posting the query in Microsoft Community Forums!

From the description, you want to do clean installation of Windows 8.

It might have caused due to USB drive corrupt or you might have downloaded corrupt file, which is causing the problem with the install.

I would suggest you to refer the below links.

The iso file needs to be downloaded not created and then it must be burned to dvd using Windows. Since you can't use your dvd drive, your best bet is to do the installation using the Upgrade Assistant. You can install right away using the assistant or you can save the link to the download on your Desktop to do later.  Read this for directions-

IMO, You should install a new dvd drive before you upgrade. You will need it.
