Windows 8 Even Clean Install Hangs

I know several people are having problem with installing Windows 8, but in my case, I formatted the hard drive and am trying a clean install. It still doesn't work.

The installation goes on fine initially, but it's stuck forever after the  first reboot.

No external devices are connected to the computer. It's just the keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Here are all the specs on  my machine

Be explicit in stating IF you are trying the Windows 8 "upgrade".

If you format the hard disk, you won't be able to activate the Windows 8 installation. You need to start the installation from within a qualifying version of Windows, in this case, (XP, Vista or Windows 7). Select the option, 'Nothing' and that will be the equivalent of doing a clean install.

None of the above answer my questions.

Yes I would be perfectly able to activate the computer with clean install after the format. I have done it with the other computer. I have valid keys for both

What -I tried - to tell you before was to provide more detail so others can help you.

It -may- be a very good idea to have 1st run the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant on the HP Pavilion p6310y Desktop to make very sure it is hardware compatible with Windows 8.

Are you using the Windows 8 PRO Upgrade?

Or are you using the retail-boxed-DVD of Windows 8?

and why did you first format the drive -before- using the WIN8 Upgrade which can do the wipe and clean install?

I am suggesting you provide -details-.

IF you are trying to do the Win8 Pro upgrade, what version of Windows was on the HDD before?

If using the Win8 upgrade, you will have to restore the previous Windows back ---- before retrying the new setup again.

I am no longer monitoring this thread.

This maybe not what you want to hear but, HP clearly states on their website that they will provide Windows 8 support ( drivers, software)  only to Computers manufactured after October 2011.. Sorry you may be out of Luck
