Windows 8 error "Failed to launch the setup application." and then setup instalization failed

Hi,

I have downloaded my copy of windows 8 from the Microsoft action partners website, but when I click on "setup" I get the following message:

"Failed to launch the setup application."

followed by:

"setup instalization failed"

Is there anyone who can help me resolve this issue?

 I'd think your download got corrupted somehow, so I'd try re-downloading it.  While the download is running, try not to run other things.  That shouldn't matter, but sometimes with a long download it can happen.

Are you installing on a virtual machine?

Open Event Viewer and look for an error code coinciding with Windows 8 failure to install.

Post back the Event ID # and message

 

Look for the log files
