Back when the $39.95 upgrade came out, I upgraded my Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) to Windows 8.0 pro (32 bit). When the 8.1 upgrade came out, I installed it (32 bit). The $39.95 upgrade is for "personal, not commercial use." I want to use my computer for commercial use and upgrade to 64 bit, so I bought a 8.0 upgrade and I plan to use the 64 bit version. I then plan to do the free 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade.
Any recommendations for the best path to do this upgrade?
I've backed up my data files. Is there a checklist for installing 64 bit over 32 bit using the upgrade disk? I'm concerned it will ask me for a key for a previous version of windows and I'll be stuck since I have no idea where to find it (it was able to authenticate my eligibility automatically when I did the previous upgrade).
