Install Windows 8 On 2 40gb SSD

Hi,

This is my current computer setup.

40gb SSD (C:) - Windows Installation & drivers
40gb SSD (S:) - Commonly used programs
500gb HHD (H:) - Infrequent programs, downloads, MISC


I have just about filled up the 40gb SSD after updates...  I was wondering if there was a way to allocate some of the space on my second (S:) SSD for windows files?  Do you have any recommendations?

Go to Control Panel > Large Icon View > System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced

 

Now go to the Virtual Memory section and click 'Change' 

 

For C drive, set a custom page file size of 500mb.

 

Now set a System Managed page file on H Drive. Set it and reboot.

 

Also move your 'My Documents' to H Drive..

Note that, as I understand, moving My Documents to another drive may affect Windows 8 apps in that they will not be able to access the move files.

 

In truth, a 40gb drive is too small for the operating system, but it is your choice to use a small drive..  

Windows 10 Pro - Start10 - part of a local network which is a '3rd party optimizer-free' zone..

I think what might work best in my situation is maybe just a RAID0 for my two SSDs.

Out of curiosity.. What do the custom page and managed page settings do that you referenced?

It is the Windows page file.

 

Windows and some applications need and use the page file, and it can take up a bit of space. So, what I suggested is that a small page file is left on C (this is for minidump files etc) , and the bulk moved to the 500gb drive to give you more space on the SSD..
