How do use the Windows 7 recovery?

I bought a HP Envy laptop that came pre installed with Windows 7 and then I upgraded it to Windows 8 for 699 INR. Now I want Windows 7 back but my recovery discs are not working also if not Windows 7 how can I reinstall Windows 8? There was no option to make recovery discs for Windows 8 with this version.

Answer

Recovery your Computer (Windows 7) by using the Manufacture's "Recovery Partition"

HP Notebook: Usually to start the recovery process tap the F10 key when powering up the computer
HP Mini: press F11 directly after powering up / booting the computer

Windows 7 - Recovery Partition location and information.
"Recommended BIOS-Based Disk-Partition Configurations"

Hi,

It's possible that you may still be able to use the Recovery Partition on your hard drive....

Try hitting F11 when you power on the computer. You should get a menu with the option to recover from the hard drive. This will delete everything on your drive though. (so will the disks)

You may also be able to launch the process using the disks from this menu also.

In order to use your disks, you may need to change your boot order in bios to boot from the CD\DVD drive... You may have to turn off Secure Boot in your bios also...

On most HP Machines you need to hit Esc+F10 at power on to get to this menu...
