Entered wrong email ID when setting up Windows 8

Original Title: I made a mistake entering email address

 

When registering Windows 8 Pro - Upgrading from Windows Vista I entered my email address wrong ( *** Email address is removed for privacy *** ) which is not an active email address that I use, the email address should have been *** Email address is removed for privacy *** this is my main email address but I've been requested to read my emails & click on links to fully activate links on my laptop but I CANT BECAUSE I CANT CHANGE MY EMAIL ADDRESS can any one help my ?

If you have used an incorrect email address when setting the login account you can't directly change the address.

 

Instead use the Users utility to switch from the Microsoft Account to Use a local account. This will ask you to log out and log back in with the new local account credentials.

 

Now do the same again but switch back to use a Microsoft Account. It will then allow you to enter the correct account username and password.
