0xD0000010  Windows Deactivates When Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Phone is plugged in USB?

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? When I plug my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Phone via USB in to Windows 8 Pro within 5 seconds Windows 8 deactivates and asks me to Activate Windows. When I try to activate Windows I get an error message:

Error Code: 0xD0000010

Error Description: Unable to find a detailed error description.

Unknown Facility Code of: 0x1000 (4096L)
Facility error: 0x10 (16L)

I thought I was the only one facing this problem..  This happens to me but with a Samsung Galaxy S2 so i am guessing it is an issue with Samsung's USB drivers in general.  When this happened, I contacted Microsoft Support and they were unable to solve the problem so I tried looking into it further with no luck.

Here is what i know so far:
Doesn't matter what version of Samsung USB drivers installed (even the latest as of Nov 11/2012 or if windows installs then automatically), did this with an upgraded version of windows 7, did this with a clean install of windows 8 pro, happens on another computer with windows 8 pro, tried the CMD command slmgr /upk to clear CD Key and enter new one with the same results, tried uninstalling Samsung's USB drivers and letting windows install them, and you can't activate by phone because you get the same error 0xD0000010.  What does work is simply unplugging it and you are able to activate Windows again.

Quite the funny bug and slightly annoying but I hope this will be dealt with by Microsoft or Samsung sooner than later (I charge my phone a lot from USB).

I've just experienced the same issue, but without connecting any device to my laptop. My Windows 8 Pro became deactivated all of a sudden. Restart helped though...

This may have something to do with it

If your smartphone has a USB debugging option under settings, enable it then plug it in.

Some smartphones also once its connected (after doing the above) have a USB connect option. on the screen. Select it .. To remove / eject it do the same thing,

Nope, not working with USB debugging on.
I think it's a Windows 8 problem with Jelly Bean.

It's same bug with my Galaxy S2 on Windows 8 Pro.
It will not deactivate windows only if I connect S2 as USB mass storage device.
Could be the reason for this the anti virus software I use on my Android device?
I am using Avast mobile security.
