Windows 8 PRO Media Center DisplayPort HDCP Issue - Known problem by Microsoft and NOT FIXED - WHEN WILL IT BE FIXED

I spent over 8 hours with Dell in trying to explain the problem with Media Center not allowing me to watch Live TV using my Cable Card Device. I have an New Dell XPS 27-10 with Windows 8 Professional.  (PRO purchased just so I can watch Live TV and Record it as I can from my old desktop running Windows 7)

I get the following error: Display driver error- the video playback device does not support playback of protected content
This message in not accurate. The driver is OK. It is a bug in Media Center. The DisplayPort is considered to be a legal connection.

The problem seems to be well described here in this Dell Support Community forum.

This seems to be a problem with the Displayport and Media Center. Seems to be a bug in Media Center. The Dell Support people after investigation said that Microsoft has admitted it NEEDs to be FIXed.  My question is WHEN.

I use to be a programmer years ago. I suspect it is an hour or two fix to figure out why it is not allowing the content to be displayed. In fact if I resize the Media Center error after I get the driver error it works.   WHY is this not fixed?

This is a problem with Most All-in-Ones and most Laptop.
I can not even figure out what telephone number I can use to talk to a Live person.

It sounds like the screen resolutions over standard 1980 x 1020  HD don't work. Is this correct?

I seriously doubt that this will change, as Microsoft has stopped development on WMC. I fully expect WMC to not be available in the next version of Windows. MS sees the Xbox One as the future.

Please don't shoot the messenger-

Thanks for your feedback.

I'm having a similar issue with my Lenovo Thinkcentre. I'm running windows 8 Pro and I'm trying to watch a video on xbox video. It says I can't watch it because of a hdcp protection issue. I'm downloading the update for it to run 8.1. I haven't had this issue with my Xbox One or my windows phone 8.1. I'm not sure if there's a setting I missed or if I need to wait until it updates to 8.1.
