Question

Q: Windows 8 apps crash immediately after opening

None of the Windows 8 apps will fully load.
After clicking on an app, the loading screen appears for about a second, and then it goes back to the (metro) menu.
I can still see these apps as open on the left-side bar.
This happens to everything in the (metro) menu, expect the Desktop and the Internet Explorer.

I installed Windows 8 two days ago, and everything was working fine until today.
My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, and my graphics card drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks
-Mario

Additional Info:
  • *Its Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit version.
  • I made a new User, it was working fine for the fist few restart, then suddenly apps stopped working. I didn't install/change anything.

Try the following steps and check:
Method 1:
Try to run the troubleshooter which automatically fixes some issues that might prevent your apps from running, including suboptimal screen resolution and incorrect security or account settings.

Method 2:
I would suggest you try the sfc scan first and check if you get any errors:
Follow these steps:
a. Press “Windows Key + x” button on the keyboard.
b. Click “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the list.
c. Type ‘sfc /scannow’ without quotes and hit enter.
Note: It may ask for windows installation DVD to fix and to enable SFC to make more than minor repairs. Some files saved on your computer might get deleted when fixing corrupted files.

Method 3:
Try the suggestions provided in the following link and check:

Hey guys, here is a solution to those whom Microsoft's regular methods didn't work out.
In case you're all gamers like me (yeah a "gamer" DL from windows shop, hilarious) and you have an AMD GPU, here's my solution:
I tinkered a little with the graphics settings in the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) in order to work some mods on my Skyrim. Unknowingly at the moment, it made my regular apps not to work. After I turned the settings back, everything returned to normal. So here's my solution (For those with AMD. In case you have an Invidia- good for you and I have no idea where the menus are):
1. Open CCC, on the left you'll see many options (Pinned, Presets, Desktop management, etc.) Open the Gaming tab, and press on the "3D Aplication Settings".
2. Don't get nervous with what you see, it's ok. Right in the bottom of the page you'll find a black button with "Defaults" on it. PRESS IT AND THEN APPLY.

That should do the trick. Hope this helps :)
