Hi Hasan,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

It seems you have a hard time with installing Apps. We need more information to assist you in a better way-

1.      Are you using any proxy connection to connect to Internet?

2.      Did you make any recent hardware or software changes?

3.      Have you installed any third party security software on the computer?

4.      Is the issue specific to News and Weather App?

Here are few methods we can try to fix the issue with the Apps.

Method 1: Run App troubleshooter and follow troubleshooting steps in the link.

Step 1: Download and run the Modern UI App troubleshooter and check.

a.       Click the Gearbox at the top right corner in internet explorer.

b.      Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.

c.       Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings.

d.      Uncheck the box next to “proxy server for your LAN”.

Method 3: Change the resolution of the screen.

a.       Press Windows + x, Click or tap Command Prompt (Administrator).

b.      Go to command prompt, type desk.cpl.

c.       Please change the resolution of the screen to 1366*768.

Follow the steps to set the date and time:

a.       Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.

b.      Type “Date and Time” in the charms bar search.

The problem of Windows 8 Metro (Tile) mode not updating news and weather, or giving annoying messages that the page cannot be loaded, seems to still be a problem.  There is not yet a single thread that has worked.  I can get into news and weather through the Desktop side, but the Metro side is simply not working correctly.  Yes, I have tried all the things here - selective boot, troubleshooters, etc.  I am on a wireless - is it security related? It seems Microsoft does not understand this, but refuses to admit that they need to fix it.

Hey, Hasan! Alright? Okay, let's skip to the process...

Well, I've been having this annoying problem on my PC too and never figured out till today. I don't know if MY solution is going to be YOUR solution but, since we've nothing to lose, we try. Here goes:

After studying some programs installations dates and the functionality history of the apps, I figured out that Mozilla Firefox (version 21, in my case) was the problem. I just rolled back changes in System Restore of the day I installed Firefox. This did the trick. I also had Chrome installed, so I don't know If it's a incompatibility with these 3 programs working simultaneous or it's a Firefox/Windows 8 issue. But, in fact, it solved the problem. Hope it happens to you too. Maybe it's not too late to prevent a System Refresh. haha'

Cheers and hug.

I'm having similar issues with connectivity in Win8 apps.  Tiles seem to refresh.  However, Win8 IE doesn't connect to internet.  'Desktop' IE works fine.  I did discover that when I VPN into the office (Cisco AnyConnect), my Win8 apps work.  Strange..  Must be a connectivity setting somewhere.  No luck, but a System Refresh would knock me out for 2 days with everything I have installed.
