When trying to update DirectX on Windows 8 I get the following message: "setup could not download the file. please retry later or check network connection."

I accidently downgraded my DirectX to DirectX 9. Now I'm having issues so I searched all over google and microsoft on how to re-install DirectX with no luck. Everybody send me to the most recent microsoft link for DirectX 11. After downloading this file and opening it, a couple of steps later in the installation process, an error message show's up with the following message ""setup could not download the file. please retry later or check network connection."
I already tried turning off my antivirus, and my internet connection seems to work right.

Found some relevant link on microsoft with the same issues but on Windows XP/Vista

I hope someone helps, thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi,

DirectX 11 has been integrated into the operating system so you cannot uninstall it.

Are you facing any issues with playing Windows games and multimedia programs?

You may check the DirectX version installed  by using the below steps.
Press Windows Key +R, type dxdiag, hit Enter.
This will display the current DirectX version installed on your computer.

To download and install the latest version of the DirectX run-time package, follow these steps:
Go to the following Microsoft website:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Hope this helps!
