Pinnacle Studio16 + Windows8: NGStudio has stopped working

On my Win8 operating system (which has all updates installed via Windows Update), I've installed Pinnacle Studio 16 including the most recent 16.1 patch that stabilizes Pinnacle for windows.

Pinnacle has stopped working.  It launches then displays an error that says "NGStudio.exe has stopped working" and info that MS will inform me when a solution is available.  Basically the program doesn't work at all.  I have to go back to Pinnacle Version 14 to get any functionality at all.

Is there any work around for this from MSFT?  Pinnacle says it should work.

I'm baffled on what to do.

Stranded without a functioning video editing tool that's worth it's salt.

Anyone else strugging?

Answer recently released a Pinnacle Studio 16 patch for Windows 8.1.

I did the patch a few days ago and I haven't seen a NGStudio.exe error since.   Best recommendation is to apply both (Windows 8.1) and the Pinnacle 16 patch (has like 400 fixes in it, good grief!).

Pinnacle is marketing that their newest release (17) is fully compliant.

For now, I'm just happy my video editing is back up and working.

Thanks All!

I have a single video card. So not the issue but thanks for the tip on how to check.

I hadn't added any new software.
