People app provides updates on live tile and I can't find them in the app.

I think the title sums it up but let me replay in more detail.  I get an update on my live tile that says "So and so commented on so...".  I'm curious to see what this actually was in reference to, so I click/tap the people tile to see.  I am taken to the default start point of the People app.  I click/tap what's new, and then have to search for the update.  I scroll/swipe sideways only to reach a dead-end, having never seen the update at all.

 

I close the people app and start checking all my social apps to see which one the update was from.  15 minutes later I finally find it.  Is my persistence a part of the design here?

 

This same scenario happens in the news and other apps as well, where tiles present live yet un actionable updates.

Hello - I find the live tile updates for the People App on Windows 8 to be infuriating.  I see pictures of my contacts show up, indicating they had some activity (either posted something on Facebook or did something in LinkedIn or something else.)

 

If I forgot who the contact is, there is no way to click on their photo over hover over it to get the name associated with the photo.

 

Also, if I wanted to see what they posted or what activity caused them to show up in the live tile for the People app, there is no way to do that either.

Thank you for your response, but what you wrote just doesn't seem to fit with what I observe.  My live tile rotates screens of 5 contacts (about 20 in total) of pictures of people that are my contacts.  When I click on the People tile, then click on View Notifications, most of the people showing up in the live tiles have no Notifications listed.

 

It seems that when one of my contacts posts something on Facebook or LinkedIn or Google+ or Microsoft Live or Skype (the apps set to notify me and show as Connected in the People tile) that their picture gets included in the live tile of Windows 8.  However, when I try to find what posting they did or change they made to their profile, many times I cannot see it.

 

Seems to me that two features should be included in the live tile for the People App on Windows 8:

 

1.) Hover over any picture and the name of the contact should show up.  Can't always recognize the photo.

 

2.) Click on the contact and it should take you to the activity that caused them to show up in the live tile.

I agree with Wes and ppanepinto. The tile shows updates from people that have updated on a social media site but then this update does not shoe in notifications.

 

Also I do not seem to get updates from all apps I have setup
