My Kindle downloaded books won't open in Windows 8. When i click on Open Book, i get kicked back to the Start screen. How do i fix this?

No problem in downloading books. I can use the Kindle for PC app from Amazon but not the Windows 8 Kindle app from that was preloaded (also checked for update from Windows store." I have a Lenovo X1 Carbon Touch.
