I see that you get error "WindowsUpdate_8024800A or WindowsUpdate_dt000 when you are trying to update Windows 8.
We require some more information regarding the issue.
1) Do you face this issue with any particular update? If yes please privide the KB number.
You can follow the steps given here to check the KB number.
Follow the steps given below to see update history to get the KB number.
a)Press Windows Key +
X key on Desktop.
b)Select Control Panel.
c)Select Windows Update.
d)On the left had side select
View Windows Update history.
You could face this issue when the folder SoftwareDistribution is corrupted. You need to rename this folder. Follow the steps given here to resolve the issue.
Method 1: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter.
If your computer is having problems finding and installing operating system updates, try using a Windows Update troubleshooter to fix the problem. It makes sure that your computer is connected to the Internet, and checks to see whether your network adapter
and Windows Update services are running correctly. Please follow the steps given below to run it.
a) Open Search by swiping in from the right edge of the screen (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen and moving the mouse pointer down), and then tapping or clicking Search
b) Tap or click Settings and type troubleshooting in the text box
c) Tap or click Troubleshooting from the list of results
d) Tap or click FixproblemswithWindowsUpdate, click Next and follow the instructions.
Method 2: Run the following commands and check for the issue.
Follow the steps given here and run the command.
a) Press “Windows Key + Q” to open Charms Bar.
b) Type “cmd” without quotes in the search box.
c) On the left pane, right click on the “cmd” option and select “Run as Administrator”.
d) Paste the commands
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
e) Wait for the process to complete.
f) Close the Command Prompt.
Now, go to Windows Update and try installing the updates. Check if it helps.
