windows 8 touchpad not working correctly after sleep

I have a HP Pavilion m6 and have been using Windows 8 for a while now. Recently every time I use my computer after sleep mode, the touchpad gestures and two finger scroll do not work. If i reset my computer entirely then it works normal, but if the computer resumes from sleep it does not every time. I have the latest synaptics toupad driver and the latest driver for my computer from HP. Is there anything I can do or is it out of my hands? Maybe a windows update in the future is planned to fix this bug?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forums.

From the issue description, I understand that your laptop touchpad is not working fine.

1.     What is the complete model number of the laptop?

2.     Have you made any recent changes to the computer?

I suggest you to try the following trouble shooting steps and check if the issue persists.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.
Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

a.     Press “Windows key + W”.
b. Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
c. Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
d. Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices option.
e. Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to run “Power” troubleshooter

Follow these steps:

a. Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.

b. Type troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.

c. Click “Find and fix problems” option from the list appeared in the left side.

d. Click system and security and run the power troubleshooter.

Method 3:

Un-install and re-install touch pad drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

Step 1: un-install the drivers:

Follow these steps:

a. Press “Windows Key + W” from the keyboard.
b. Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
c. Right click on the touchpad drivers and select “Uninstall”.
d. Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

Step 2: Download the latest touchpad drivers for “Windows 8” from manufacturer’s website.

You can refer to the link mentioned below to download the driver from the manufacturer website.

Method 4:

I suggest you to remove the current power plan and recreate it. You can refer to the article mentioned below for creating a power plan.
