Windows 8 Rebooting - Error code 0xa000001

My PC is rebooting at odd times.  I finally turned off the auto reboot and now get the referenced error code.  What do I need to check?

When I first started getting this, I thought memory or mother board were bad so completely rebuilt with new mb, memory, ssd, power supply, etc.  I have tried registry cleaners, updating drivers, everything else I could think of.  Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks

Hi Martin,

1. What is the complete error message that you get?

2. What is the make and model of the PC?

You may face this if there are issues with graphics card.

I would suggest you to follow these steps and check.

Check the issue in "Enable low-resolution video (640×480)" and check. Choose the option Enable low-resolution mode. This starts Windows using your current video driver.

If the computer works fine in low resolution mode, then I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall graphics card drivers from manufacturer's website.

Follow the steps provided below to uninstall the graphics card driver.

a) Move the mouse to bottom left corner and right-click on the ‘Start icon’.

b) Select ‘Device Manager’.

c) Expand the Display Adapters and choose the graphic card and select ‘Uninstall’

d) You can now download and install the graphics card drivers from manufacturer's website.

I would recommend you to check Event Viewer logs, look for event errors.
Follow these steps to access Event Viewer.

a.     Go to the Start Screen.

b.     Type in Event Viewer.

c.     This will bring up the Event Viewer box. Click to open the Event Viewer.

d.     In the left pane, expand Windows Logs.

e.     Click on Application and System log.

Let us know if it helps.  If the issue persists, please reply, we will be happy to help you further.

I believe that IE11 is my big problem causing me to get that error 0xa0000001.  I changed my browser over to Firefox and updated the video driver.   It's now been two weeks and never saw the error.

So IE11 strike again a being one of the causes for the error  Microsoft Update IE 11 or let us have back IE 10 which is more stable.

I had this crash too even though I never used I.E., always Chrome.

My Windows 8 laptop crashed with error x0a0000001 when loading a video. I have it for a year or so and this already happened 3 times or so. Not many times, so I consider it just a nuisance.

hello all. i have found the way to fix this issue without do this and that **** runaround!                                                 i have the model hp p7-1414 hp.  i was playing a game when this would happen. i found this on my own accord.          1.) what i had done was went to my amd graphics driver i reverted the driver to the earliest date i could find.              2.) let it do its thing few blinks here and there with  monitor on and off sound, when it was done i had then told the driver to  check for updates again.  for some reason when i tryed this without reverting to the earliest date, and told it to check for updates nothing happend and problem continued.   this should stop the random 0xa0000001 problem  hope this helped i did not have to all the crazy **** steps some people suggested  like unplugging the power supply and whatnot and going into safe mode **** all that.   GaME On!!!!!
