Q: Windows 8: randomly getting kernel_data_inpage_error BSOD

Hi Microsoft Community. The laptop I'm using, an Asus F501A with Windows 8 (not 8.1 as the update download always gives an error), randomly gives a BSOD with a "kernel_data_inpage_error". When I'm asked to use chkdsk I do, but the problem is still there.

Where do I start to fix this?

Answer

A:

Thanks!

All of the attached DMP files are of the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a) bug check.

This bug check indicates that the requested page of kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory.

---------------

You have two antivirus suites installed, this is creating conflicts and causing memory corruption.

Remove and replace Avira and McAfee with Windows 8's built-in Windows Defender for temporary troubleshooting purposes:

McAfee removal - http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331
