Windows 8 BSoD Error Message "Registry Error"

For the past few days I've been getting the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) every time I don't interact with the computer for 5 - 10 minutes.

The error it reports is "Registry Error". I've tried using CCleaner to clean the registry but to no avail. It seems that every time the computer run into idle it crashes and starts back up.

I've uploaded the .dmp file to my Skydrive at this link.

And an image with all the .dmp files here, to show just how often the crashes are hitting.

It seems that only when left at the log on screen that it stays on without crashing.

If anymore info is needed ask. Please help, this is becoming a major issue.

Oh, and here is a list of my installed programs if it helps.

Oh, and two more things, my system is running slower than usual, and the problems seem to have started after installing Norten Internet Security.

|
I also have an Asus ultabook and I had same problem.

I think the OS crash is due to a bad compatibility between Windows 8 and Norten .
I have not figured if it can also be related to the cache SSD.

Anyway, try to uninstall it, clean the registry, and install a new version.
If the issue persists, use another antivirus until Norten will release a fully compatible version.

Think it is Norton since I've just reinstalled Windows 8 (ruminates from Windows 7 before upgrade such as old start up sounds should have been warning enough) I've had no crashes at all, in fact, it's running 10 times faster (no thanks to Norton on that part).

In  the mean time, anyone who has this problem, and has Norton of any version installed, remove it and try something else. That could well be the problem.

Oh, and when you upgrade, copy all your files on a portable HDD and choose keep nothing. It's much easier that way, and much less buggy. (lesson learned for me)

Oh, and as for the SSD cache, don't think that's the issue since I don't have an SSD and I can't imagine how it would damage the registry in such a way.

I have this issue now which seems to have started after a critical update last week. It is exactly as the OP describes - happens 5-10 minutes after a period of input inactivity.

I tried to do a system restore and while it went through the process and rebooted I then got an error saying the restore had failed and the code was 0x800703f1.

I do not use Norton but ESET Anti virus.

I upgraded to Windows 8 from Windows 7 using online update so I don't have any discs etc.

This is becoming extremely irksome so hopefully someone from Microsoft might be able to shed some light on the issue!

An update:

Its been a long time and I no longer have this issue. No idea how it was fixed, most likely a clean install of Windows 8.

Good luck to those who still have the issue and lack the luxury of being able to do a clean install of Windows (should mention that my hardware has changed a lot since then so that could be a contributing factor).

Insert Windows 8.1 disc, then insert ethernet cable. Go into Bios to make sure Windows boots from disc, save and press F11 to make sure it boots from disc & it should then do a automatic repair and or system restore, which at this moment is what my computer is doing.

I now have the same problem, and it started after I installed Norton Security with backup.

Found no solution yet, but this might be a start... The problem is I payed a lot of money for Norton, so it would be a waste to buy something else...

After doing as above have had no problems. If you're still having problems try running a full system scan and anti-malware scan at the same time, Malware Anti-Malware bytes picked up some malware which after forcing a reboot win update installed some updates and problem seems to have disappeared.
