Windows 8 keeps asking me for my most recent password.

Hello,

I am having a little problem which is just becoming annoying now. I can log in just fine on windows 8 but after awhile Action Center will have a Red X and it says "Click here to enter your most recent password (Important)" and I have to click it and enter my password and it goes away but comes back everyday and it's starting to become annoying.

How do I fix this? Why does it keep asking me for my recent password?

Hello,

Have you gone into the action center to find out what the flag was for? there might be an issue that needs your attention. Open up the action center then next time it happens and look for any possible problems. If there is an issue and you can fix that it should stop asking you for the most recent password. Also in the action center you can turn off this notification so it does not come up again for the password issue.

I am having the same annoying issue, if anyone knows how to disable this and keep me signed into my live account please reply. I don't understand why this is needed nor is there no option to disable it, I sign in with my live account details every time I log in to the computer so this is so very pointless.

Happening to me randomly also...can't find out why. I created a thread at  :

http://www.eightforums.com/user-accounts-family-safety/12622-need-re-enter-pasword-random-account-logs-out.html

I thought I found the items in event viewer that correlated to this issue but that is wrong (I need to update that thread). Would like any help on this. Note this was a clean install, not an upgrade in case that comes up.

Sorry for late reply. I tried everything to get windows 8 to stop asking me to enter most recent password and nothing worked. So I just went ahead and put it on ignore in Action Center. Not really a fix but at least it stops asking me to enter password all the time.

If someone does find a fix please post how you went about fixing it.

Thanks.

I do use **** Cleaner and Glary Utilities. Any idea which cookie needs to be 'excluded' from deletion in order to prevent this from happening?

So from the above comments and from this happening over time after running CCleaner a lot, they definitely seem correlated. BUT I tried every combination of turning off Internet Explorer options in CCleaner and it still did it. I just did a search at CCleaner forum and found this thread:

http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=37740

So, turn off cleaning of 'Network Password' under 'Windows Explorer' options in CCleaner. So far it has worked for me. Normally if I ran CCleaner and then went to the Metro side and did things (like search in the store for example) and then went back to the desktop side of windows it would have that password alert. But so far so good. If it turns out not to work I will come back and update.

I just got this notice fror the very first time today and I can tell you that I have never used CCleaner. It's the same prompt for my most recent password! I will never enter it cause it looks fishy to me!

Bummer! I still have been lucky not to have this issue since removing the option to clear 'Network Password' in CCleaner (about two months yeah!). Hopefully you can find what is causing the issue on your side :)
